The Problem: Roughly 54% of the world’s population lives in cities, and is responsible for producing 80% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide – resulting in an environmental crisis on a global scale. While governments on a national level may not agree on the action required to reverse this impact, governments on the local level can come together to develop solutions that address urgent sustainability and environmental issues.
A Platform for Collaboration and Change: The G-50 Global Smart City Summit brings together people from all over the world to share ideas and solutions that utilize technologies to create smarter, more sustainable cities. The event is hosted by the City of Cupertino – home to Apple and renowned worldwide for its culture of innovation, education, and collaboration; and the City of Santa Clara – the “center of what’s possible” and home of the nation’s first professional football stadium to achieve LEED Gold certification.
Our Mission: To connect cities around the world with experts from high tech, academia, and local governments to share ideas and advance solutions for some of the most challenging issues that cities are facing today.
Our Vision: Empower a new generation of global smart, sustainable cities that run more efficiently, utilize resources more effectively, and improve the quality of life for residents.
